The women have just come from the tomb and are trying to explain to the disciples that Christ has risen, He has risen indeed, but to the disciples “their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not”.-Luke 24:11
Idle tales, fanciful notions, the words of the women are a bit too irrational and delusional for the disciples to take at face value. That always make me laugh because it speaks so well to the nature of relationships between men and women. We speak different languages sometimes, and yes women are prone to tell wild tales full of emotion and subjectivity that can seem to be idle tales, seem being the keyword there, as in sometimes you have to sort it all out to get to the heart of the matter. Those women were telling the truth however, the tomb is empty.
